Terracotta Voyager is founded on a belief that simple and beautiful can be made from what we find all around us. Wood Artist Rebekah McGill creates serene minimalist dunescapes and scenes inspired by her Traverse City, MI roots. Her wooden creations are warm with natural tones just like a midsummer’s afternoon at your favorite beach.

Hi, i’m Beka.
Growing up in Traverse City, my memory is heavily saturated by hours spent along Michigan's lake shores and rolling farmlands. I can't help but see those scenes in the textures of the woodgrain of the art I create. I begin to envision a shoreline and whether it's the clouds or the waves, I pull the story out of the grain and place it in a frame. Making the movement of these 2D scenes seem airy and peaceful but not stagnant.
I love working within the constraints of wood as a medium. It forces me to simplify my designs to the essence. Each cut is mindfully placed, and the palette is uniform across collections so as to not distract from the beauty of the wood itself. This consistency ensures pieces play well together in your home gallery and can be changed out or expanded to new pieces across collection lines. Keeping things playful, and interchangeable.
